Our Story

Where we began. Where we are going.

The VCU’s Center for Coagulation Disorders grew from one of Virginia’s earliest comprehensive hemophilia care programs. Beginning in the 1970s, adult and pediatric programs brought coordinated, multidisciplinary care to children and adults across Virginia.
Over the next five decades, the Center expanded beyond hemophilia to care for people with a wide range of bleeding and clotting disorders. It also became a leader in research, education, advocacy, outreach, and statewide public health initiatives.
Today, VCU’s Center for Coagulation Disorders is Virginia’s largest lifespan Hemophilia Treatment Center, providing comprehensive care to children, adults, and families throughout the Commonwealth.
